All You Need to Know About Vitamin C

Of all the vitamins on the market, Vitamin C may be the most familiar one. Many of us run to the store to grab a bottle of this supplement when we come down with a cold. Or, we increase our consumption of orange juice, knowing that it has high levels of this vitamin. However, Vitamin C has more benefits than just speeding up the time of your virus, and is also more or less effective depending on how it is consumed. Therefore, Dr. Willard’s® is going to provide all you need to know about Vitamin C in this article.

Vitamin-CWhat is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, controls how parts of our body work and develop. It plays a central role in the production of blood vessels, ligaments, tendons, skin, cartilage, bones and teeth, according to The National Library of Medicine (NLM). It also helps our wounds and cuts heal, and aids in the formation of scar tissue. Vitamin C is one of the antioxidants that attacks free radicals from food and radiation that get us sick and make us age. Interestingly enough, animals make their own ascorbic acid, while humans need to get it through diet and supplements. You can get the nutrients from this vitamin through diet, which is the best way, or through supplements.

What Foods Contain Vitamin C?

It is important to remember that the best sources come from fresh and raw fruits and vegetables. For example, many people believe that they can pick up a carton of orange juice at the supermarket, and they will get their daily dose, but that is not so. WebMD explains that: “fresh-squeezed orange juice or fresh-frozen concentrate is a better pick than ready-to-drink orange juice.”” It is best to consume fruits and vegetables in an uncooked state; if necessary, steaming is the best way to keep the most amount of nutrients. NLM provides a list of foods that contain ascorbic acid:

  • Cantaloupe
  • Citrus fruits and juices, such as orange and grapefruit
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Mango
  • Papaya
  • Pineapple
  • Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries
  • Watermelon
  • Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower
  • Green and red peppers
  • Spinach, cabbage, turnip greens, and other leafy greens
  • Sweet and white potatoes
  • Tomatoes and tomato juice
  • Winter squash

What are the Benefits of Vitamin C?

Vitamin C has been shown to prevent:

  1. Cardiovascular Disease - Life Extension Magazine reports new findings that Vitamin C plays a huge role in cardiovascular health. The article claims that ascorbic acid may remove plaque from LDL, or the bad, cholesterol that our body stores, can help protect heart arteries from damage by keeping them flexible, and possibly regulate blood pressure.
  2. Cold – Many studies have gone to refute what Vitamin C is best known for, which is curing the common cold. No major research studies have been able to find evidence that ascorbic acid will actually cure a cold. However, the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMM) does report on a few findings that individuals who take higher doses of the vitamin regularly (every day) usually experience shorter colds by about one day. Vitamin C did show greater chances of cold prevention for athletes who exercised in harsh weather, such as skiers.
  3. Arthritis – Scientists believe that arthritis is caused by free radicals that damage collagen, which can lead to the disintegration of cartilage, as seen in those affected by arthritis. Some findings have shown that a diet high in Vitamin C will prevent arthritis.
  4. Blindness – Macular degeneration (AMD) is the number one ailment to lead to blindness people 55 and older. Those who suffer from AMD experience having their macula, the part responsible for central vision, attacked. Central vision is what allows us to do basic things, like read and drive. With AMD, people lose their central vision with age, but retain their peripheral vision, which allows vision from the side. According to UMM, Vitamin C, along with beta-carotene, Vitamin E, and high levels of Zinc can help with AMD.

How Do I Take Vitamin C?

Most people in the United States who eat a healthy diet filled with fruit and vegetables likely get enough Vitamin C. If you believe that you can have a deficiency, you can ask your physician to do lab work to test your levels. Should you choose to take Vitamin C as a supplement, it is available as powder or as chewable or non-chewable tablets. Because Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient, meaning that it is not stored by the body, but released through the urine, overdoses are not typical. However, too much ascorbic acid can lead to stomach issues, such as diarrhea. Refer to these dosage instructions provided by NLM:

Infants

  • 0 – 6 months: 40* milligrams/day (mg/day)
  • 7 – 12 months: 50* mg/day

*Adequate Intake (AI)

Children

  • 1 – 3 years: 15 mg/day
  • 4 – 8 years: 25 mg/day
  • 9 – 13 years: 45 mg/day

Adolescents

  • Girls 14 – 18 years: 65 mg/day
  • Pregnant teens: 80 mg/day
  • Breastfeeding teens: 115 mg/day
  • Boys 14 – 18 years: 75 mg/day

Adults

  • Men age 19 and older: 90 mg/day
  • Women age 19 year and older: 75 mg/day
  • Pregnant women: 85 mg/day
  • Breastfeeding women: 120 mg/day

In addition to proper dosage, to maximize the chances of this water-soluble nutrient to get absorbed into our bodies, it is recommended to take Vitamin C with food to increase absorption and bioavailability. Bioavailability is a percentage that signifies how much of the actual nutrient enters the bloodstream to then work properly. For example, National Institutes of Health, as reported by LivOn Labs found that only 200 mg of Vitamin C was the maximum absorbed, with the rest simply excreted through the urine.

To help with bioavailability, or the degree to which the nutrients get absorbed and utilized in our circulation, you should add Willard Water® to your daily diet. Studies consistently show that drinking Willard Water® helps with vitamin absorption and utilization. Furthermore, a recent cellular study conducted on human subjects found that Willard Water® was especially effective in increasing absorption, and reducing expulsion through urine and feces, of Vitamin C in subjects taking Vitamin C supplements. The patented micelle catalyst in Willard Water® has also been found to aid in the breakdown of particles, which encourages better free radical scavenging and promotes absorbability.

The Basics of Vitamin E

Vitamin-EIn our continuing efforts to educate our readers about the benefits and proper use of vitamins, this article will focus on Vitamin E. This nutrient is made up of a complex of eight organic compounds called tocopherols and tocotrienols. They are found in the main staples of our diet, and are also available as supplements. Vitamin E is one of the most popular supplements taken for its antioxidant power in the world, and is a main staple in almost all multivitamins on the market, according to Science Daily. Acting as an antioxidant, Vitamin E works to slow down and reverse the effects of damaged cells due to aging, and also controls several important functions of the body. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means that unlike water-soluble vitamins, it doesn’t need to be absorbed by the body every day, as the body stores the nutrients in the liver and fat tissues.

What is Vitamin E Responsible For?

Vitamin E plays a major role in keeping our body healthy, and is associated with the items listed below:

  • Antioxidant: Vitamin E is foremost an antioxidant, which means that it helps to “protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals {which} are compounds formed when our bodies convert food we eat into energy,” according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). “People are also exposed to free radicals in the environment from cigarette smoke, air pollution and ultraviolet light from the sun.” These free radicals can be stored in your skin, eyes and other organs, and can lead to disease and aging.
  • Immune System: Vitamin E maintains our immune system by protecting us from pathogens such as bacteria and viruses that can make us sick.
  • Blood Clots – NIH claims that Vitamin E can help to widen blood cells, thus preventing blood clots from forming.
  • Vision Loss – Some studies have found that high doses of Vitamin E in conjunction with “other antioxidants, zinc, and copper showed promise for slowing down the rate of vision loss,” such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), loss of central vision and cataracts,” claims the NIH.
  • Muscles – This antioxidant controls the proper movement of muscles

What Kind of Foods Contain Vitamin E?

Colorado State University cites recent medical research that has shown that to get the maximum benefit of Vitamin E, it is better to consume fruits and vegetables that contain the tocopherols and tocotrienols than to take it as a supplement. There are a variety of foods in our diet that contain Vitamin E, including:

  • Vegetable Oils – Vegetables oils are the primary sources of Vitamin E that we consume. We can get the benefits by cooking with the oils, or adding them to our food. Examples include olive, safflower, almond, cottonseed, corn and soybean oils, and margarine.
  • Nuts – Almonds, pistachios, pecans and hazelnuts
  • Leafy Greens – Spinach, beet greens, turnip and collard greens
  • Fruits – Avocado, kiwi, mango and papaya
  • Vegetables – Asparagus, swiss chard, kale and broccoli
  • Tofu
  • Seafood – Shrimp, herring, salmon and rainbow trout
  • Seeds – Sunflower, squash and sesame seeds
  • Eggs
  • Fortified Cereals

What are the Signs of Vitamin E Deficiency?

Most people that eat a well-balanced diet are not Vitamin E deficient, and can get the benefits of this antioxidant through the consumption of aforementioned foods. However, premature infants or those that were born weighing very low, or “individuals with rare genetic abnormalities in the alpha-tocopherol transfer protein” are most at risk for Vitamin E deficiency explains Dr. Weil. People with cystic fibrosis, Crohn’s disease, or other ailments that prevent fat from being digested and absorbed properly, are also at risk, as reported by NIH. Additionally, with the low-fat diet craze, many people have been consuming less foods that contain the antioxidant, such as cooking oils and rich desserts, leading to rising deficiencies. Below are the signs that can point to a Vitamin E deficiency:

  • Weakened immune system
  • Problems with vision
  • Loss of feeling in the muscles
  • Intestinal problems – WebMD classified this as “greasy stools, chronic diarrhea and an inability to secrete bile.”

How to Properly Take Vitamin E

If you and your doctor have decided that you have a Vitamin E deficiency, and you need to take this antioxidant as a supplement, there are proper doses you need to consume. Your daily dose depends on your age, and NIH provides a chart with proper doses below.

Life Stage Recommended Amount
Birth to 6 months 4 mg (6 IU)
Infants 7–12 months 5 mg (7.5 IU)
Children 1–3 years 6 mg (9 IU)
Children 4–8 years 7 mg (10.4 IU)
Children 9–13 years 11 mg (16.4 IU)
Teens 14–18 years 15 mg (22.4 IU)
Adults 15 mg (22.4 IU)
Pregnant teens and women 15 mg (22.4 IU)
Breastfeeding teens and women 19 mg (28.4 IU)

It’s important to remember that absorbability, or the degree to which our bodies absorb and process the vitamins, differs depending on how you consume Vitamin E. For example, a study cited in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition by scientists from the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, as reported by Science Daily, claimed that Vitamin E was very well absorbed when added to fortified cereals, but not absorbed as well through supplementation. The researchers found that “people who are taking vitamin E supplements only with liquids on an empty stomach are accomplishing nothing and getting few if any benefits from the supplements.”

To help with bioavailability, or the degree to which the nutrients get absorbed and utilized in our circulation, you should add Willard Water® to your daily diet.  Studies consistently show that drinking Willard Water® helps with vitamin absorption and utilization.  Furthermore, a recent cellular study conducted by NIS Labs in Klamath Falls, Oregon, found that Willard Water® was especially effective in increasing absorption, and activity, of Vitamin E. The patented micelle catalyst in Willard Water® has also been found to aid in the breakdown of particles, which frees antioxidants and promotes absorbability.

In conclusion, Vitamin E is an important factor in regulating our immune system and preventing our cells from premature aging. As long as you consume foods with healthy fats, such as nuts, avocados and cooking oils, you will probably get enough Vitamin E to prevent any deficiency. If you do need to take additional supplements, remember to take them with Willard Water® to ensure maximum absorption and bioavailability.

The Basics of Vitamin B

We all know that we should take vitamins to maintain our health. However, with so many vitamins on the market, one does not always know what to buy. As part of our new series of blogs aimed to educate our customers about living healthier lives, we will provide information about Vitamin B in this article.

What is Vitamin B?

b-vitamins-missing-from-gluten-free-dietVitamin B is actually a composite of eight different vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12) that play different roles in our bodies. They are water soluble vitamins, which just means that they dissolve in water and are not stored in our bodies. Once our bodies use the nutrients from the vitamins, they release the rest through our urine. These nutrients help your body to create energy from the food you consume and aid the body’s process of metabolizing proteins and fats.

What Foods Contain Vitamin B?

The great thing about Vitamin B is that it is found in food, and most people who do not have a large deficiency do not need to take additional supplements. Examples of foods that have Vitamin B are:

  • Whole grains and kale (B1)
  • Milk and yogurt (B2)
  • Eggs and beans (B3)
  • Avocados and meat (B5)
  • Sunflower seeds and carrots (B6)
  • Barley and potatoes (B7)
  • Salmon and beets (B9)
  • Shellfish and pork (B12)

What Does the Vitamin B Complex Entail?

Vitamin B is a composite of eight water soluble vitamins which play different roles, with some working together for common functions.

  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) – Thiamine helps to extract energy by breaking down simple carbohydrates, such as honey. Additionally, it boosts our immune systems by making new cells, RNA and DNA. A deficiency of Vitamin B1 can lead to ailments such as beriberi and inflammation of the nerves (neuritis).
  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) – Riboflavin is an antioxidant that reduces the damage done to our cells and DNA by free radicals, which play a big role in preventing the aging process and several diseases. B2 also aids in the production of red blood cells and helps the body to grow. A deficiency of Vitamin B2 may be experienced by those who maintain a poor diet; a deficiency can lead to ariboflavinosis, which is a disease that affects the eyes, skin, blood and mouth.
  • Vitamin B3 (Niacin) – Niacin raises HDL cholesterol. While cholesterol has gotten a bad reputation in recent years, there is good and bad cholesterol. HDL is the good kind, and the more of it you have actually lowers the amount of bad cholesterol, LDL in your blood. B3 also plays a role in extracting energy during metabolism from glucose, alcohol and fats. Most developed countries don’t see deficiencies of niacin; however not enough B3 in your body can lead to pellagra, which causes insomnia, aggression, dermatitis, and other ailments.
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) – Pantothenic acid is found in almost all food, and its job is to break down fat and carbohydrates and convert them into energy. B5 also creates certain hormones, such as testosterone. Like most other B complex vitamins, most people do not have a lack of B5, but a deficiency can cause paresthesia, a tingling and burning of the skin, and acne.
  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) – Pyridoxine controls the quantities of homocysteine, an amino acid in our bodies. Furthermore, it helps to control or sleep and stress hormones. Vitamin B6 deficiency can cause seborrhoeic dermatitis, which is a skin condition.
  • Vitamin B7 (Biotin) – Biotin “supports the health of the skin, nerves, digestive tract, metabolism, and cells. Biotin may also help to treat some types of nerve pathology, such as the peripheral neuropathy that can result from kidney failure or diabetes,” according to WebMD (http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-and-supplements/lifestyle-guide-11/supplement-guide-biotin). A lack of B7 does not affect adults, but can cause growth issues and neurological disorders in children.
  • Vitamin B9 (Folate) – Folate, or folic acid, is extremely important for pregnant women and infants, as it essential for the proper growth and development of the baby, as well as preventing neurological defects. Folate also plays a role in the making of red blood cells. Pregnant women who do not have enough folic acid have given birth to children with birth defects.
  • Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) – Cobalamin not only creates red blood cells like some of the other B vitamins, but it also also makes DNA, and helps to make hemoglobin, a protein responsible for oxygen. Certain people, especially vegans, can have a deficiency of Vitamin B12, which can lead to anemia.

How Do You Get the Most of Vitamin B Supplements?

One of the best ways of getting the B complex vitamins into your system is by eating a healthy diet with foods that contain these water soluble vitamins. Some of the best choices are salmon, eggs, chicken, green vegetables and beans. However, if you choose to add Vitamin B supplements to your diet, there are tips for helping you to maximize their effects.

  • Food Based Tablets – There are a lot of varieties of B complex vitamins on the market. However, most of them are synthetic versions created in laboratories. Manufacturers prefer to make vitamins in labs because it is cheaper than using real food, and the pills have a longer shelf life. Many studies have found that synthetic vitamins may not always be recognized by the body, and some contain ingredients that have been found harmful to our health. For example, Vitamin B1 made in labs usually contains “coal tar, ammonia, acetone, and hydrochloric acid,” claims The Sun Warrior (http://www.sunwarrior.com/news/natural-vs-synthetic-vitamins/). The article also explains that synthetic Vitamin B2 has acetic acid and nitrogen, B3 contains formaldehyde, and the list goes on from there. Many of these ingredients are not absorbable by the body, but, furthermore, they are known toxins. There are many food-based vitamin brands on the market that do not hinder the bioavailability of nutrients from the supplements.
  • Appropriate Doses – Make sure to take the right dose of Vitamin B for your needs. The Harvard School of Public Health (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/vitamin-b/) reccomends taking 400 micrograms of B3; 1.3 to 1.7 milligrams of B6; and 2.4 micrograms of B12 per day.
  • Nutrient Absorption – While Vitamin B does contain many beneficial nutrients, our body does not provide complete nutrient absorption for vitamins. Furthermore, because these supplements are water soluble, they get released through our urine, and do not remain stored in our bodies. Just because you take a full dose of folic acid, for example, does not mean your body will metabolize all of it. However, there are ways to promote bioavailability, or the process of the absorption of nutrients. A recent study by Integrative Health Systems, LLC, found that Willard Water promotes the nutrient absorption of water soluble vitamins, such as Vitamin B. The study compared vitamin usage with and without the addition of Willard Water. It was found that after 30 days of taking Vitamin B (B12 and Folate) accompanied by Willard Water, the amount of nutrients that were absorbed by cells in the body increased. Therefore, it was concluded that this Willard Water helped promote nutrient absorption of Vitamin B in the body.

The Vitamin B complex plays many roles that are beneficial for the body. Most importantly, it helps to extract energy from the food that we eat. Although adding Vitamin B supplements to your daily routine will not provide the same jolt of energy as a cup of coffee, they will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. In order to maximize the benefits of these water soluble vitamins, remember to take the right dose, and be sure to drink your Willard Water.

Dr. Willard’s Spring BOGO offer

I hope this post finds you all enjoying a beautiful spring and gearing up for a wonderful summer.  Here in South Dakota spring still seems a bit farther away as we celebrated Mother’s Day with yet another cold, windy, snowy weekend.  I don’t know about the rest of you but those of us in South Dakota are ready for this darn winter to come to an end!

Despite the unusually brisk weather, May remains the time of year when those of up north begin to think about planting our flowers and vegetable gardens.  ”Knee high by the fourth of July” is a phrase every South Dakota child learns at an early age and we all know that we need our crops in the ground by early spring in order to get our corn knee high by early July.  The same is true for our flowers and vegetable gardens as we all know we need to get planted in May in order to get a good bloom/crop by the end of the summer.

Here at CAW Industries we’re gearing up for spring with an eye toward planting as well.  Seeds have been planted and are germinating in our Dr. Willard’s PlantCatalyst research greenhouse, built to house a study on our PlantCatalyst being conducted by South Dakota State University, and we’re tilling the ground behind our warehouse facility to conduct even more research on our Dr. Willard’s PlantCatalyst product.  With some luck from the weather, we’ll be knee high in corn and tomatoes by July!

We’re also looking forward to helping our friends, like you, grow the kinds of fantastic gardens, greenhouses, and flowers long-time Dr. Willard’s customers have come to expect.  Our customers have been using our Dr. Willard’s products to grow amazing plants, flowers, and vegetables for 40 years and we always love this time of year because we get to hear the wonderful success stories from our longtime customers.  We also often get treated to the “fruits” of their labors and there’s nothing like freshly grown vegetables to make a good day turn into perfection.  Just a friendly hint…

Many of our customers have been asking us to start a spring buy-one-get-one free special to match the one we typically offer in December and we’ve decided it’s time to give them what they want.  With a twist.  We want to give back to those who love using Dr. Willard’s on plants and we also want to introduce a new way of using Dr. Willard’s to those customers who have never tried it with gardening.  We’re going to offer a buy-one-get-one free special to all of those loyal customers who purchase a bottle of our Dr. Willard’s PlantCatalyst on our website ( http://drwillard.com/plantcatalyst/) or via phone at 888-379-4552.  If you buy a bottle of our PlantCatalyst product you can then ask us to throw in an equal or lesser sized bottle of any other product.  For example, if you buy a 32 oz bottle of PlantCatalyst you can also ask us to throw in a bottle of 32 CLEAR or Dark and we’ll send it to you free of charge. Unfortunately, though, this special does not include our ULTIMATE line of products.  If you want to purchase the PlantCatalyst through our website, drwillard.com, simply write what free item you’d like to receive in the memo column.  As in the example above, if you buy a 32 oz PlantCatalyst online and wish to receive a free 32 CLEAR you would simply write “send me a 32 oz CLEAR” in the memo line and we’ll take care of the rest.  Or, if it’s just easier to call us at 888-379-4552 we’d love to hear from you!

As always, we thank you for your continued loyalty and support. We look forward to serving you!

This offer expires on June 15, 2014.

Dr. Willard’s celebrates 40 years in business!

As always I hope this note finds you all doing well and staying healthy, happy and strong.

As you can probably tell by the title, November 20th marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of CAW Industries Inc., the company my grandfather, Dr. John Willard, founded to sell his now famous Willard Water® products.  As I write this e-mail it’s hard not to reminisce on my own history with my grandfather and his company.

I was all of three years old when my grandfather founded CAW, ten years old when 60 Minutes produced their ground breaking story on my grandfather, and twenty-one when he passed away.  The lion’s share of my childhood was spent working with my grandfather to help him sell the “crazy water” he’d invented and many of my memories of him stem from those experiences.  My older sister and I spent many of our Saturday afternoons at our grandfather’s house helping him fill, bottle and label the little one ounce bottles of Willard Water® we sold back then.  We were on the “set” of the 60 Minutes shoot and got to watch as our grandfather was interviewed by Harry Reasoner, and we pitched in as our family struggled to fill the thousands of Willard Water® orders we received in the days immediately following the airing of that 60 Minutes story.  I spent the summers of my college years working with my grandfather “assisting” him as he replicated all of the experiments he’d conducted in the early days of his Willard Water® invention so I’d gain a better understanding of how and why the product works so well.  I guess you’d say I’ve had a front row seat to watch the little business my grandfather started in his basement grow into a successful international corporation.

And now here I am serving as CEO of my grandfather’s company on the 40th Anniversary of its founding.  It’s more than a little cliché to say this but I am very humbled by the gifts my family has been given.  The list of people our family should be thanking for our good fortune is very long and extends all over the world–from Japan and South Korea, to the Netherlands and the UK,  to Canada and, of course, our United States.  We especially owe a great debt of gratitude to those South Dakota neighbors who, in the early 1970′s, worked with my grandfather as he quested to learn more about the product he’d invented.  We owe them a huge debt of gratitude for their commitment to my grandfather and their lifelong dedication to the products he’d invented.  We also owe all of you a huge thank you.  Willard Water® is difficult to explain, can be difficult to use, and its effects are sometimes difficult to quantify, but each of you took a leap of faith to trust our family and try these products and, for that we are eternally grateful.  We only hope that you feel like we’ve repaid your trust by selling top notch products.  It is my life’s endeavor that we continue doing just that.

To mark the occasion of our 40th Anniversary we have released a new product specially geared toward enhancing plant growth.  Dr. Willard’s PlantCatalyst® marks a continuation of my goal to use the science of experimentation to find “new” uses for my grandfather’s invention as well as validate, and better direct, old uses.  The PlantCatalyst performs much like our Willard Water® products do in that it enhances cellular absorption of nutrients.  This leads to healthier plants, greater yields, and faster growth.  And, like Willard Water® a little goes a long way as lower dilution amounts are as potent, and often more potent, than stronger dilutions.

As a thank you to customers like yourselves who have supported our company these many years, we’re going to throw in a free bottle of PlantCatalyst to every order sent by CAW Industries for the rest of 2014.  You don’t have to do anything special, just order online at drwillard.com or call us at 888-379-4552 and place your order as usual and we’ll do the rest.  I hope you enjoy this product as much as you have our others!

Thank you again for your support.  I look forward to another 40 years in business!

Whole Dog Journal Endorses using Willard Water to Maintain and Improve Dog Health in their “Favorite Remedies” section!

I hope this post finds you all doing exceptionally well and enjoying the last moments of summer before fall and winter hits us again.  I know school has already started for many of America’s children and for the kids summer is pretty much over, but here at CAW Industries we also think of our pets as children and we can’t help but feel a little saddened for them as well since they lose their play mates for another long nine months.

Speaking of our four legged friends we received some very exciting news this week and we wanted to share it with you.  In their September newsletter, the highly respected natural products guide for dog owners, Whole Dog Journal (WDJ), endorsed the use of Willard Water® to maintain dog health in their “Favorite Remedies” section.  For those of you who don’t know, Whole Dog Journal is a national subscription only publication that provides readers with reviews of dog food, dog toys, and dog health and dog care products as well as teaching positive training methods.  The WDJ doesn’t accept any advertising at all so their endorsements carry a great deal of legitimacy among owners who care deeply for their pets.

This is the second time WDJ has endorsed the use of Willard Water to maintain dog health and we’re very grateful that they’ve once again recognized the important role Willard Water can play in keeping our furry friends at their best.  Some of the things they recommend using Willard Water for include:

1)     For overall improved health as a result of better nutrient absorption and increased antioxidant activity

2)     For improved hydration

3)     To help reduce the effects of stress and as a general calming agent for dogs that are excitable or nervous

4)     To help with arthritic joints when taken in conjunction with glucosamine or other anti-inflammatory aids.  WW will help with the absorption of these aids and thus increase effectiveness.

5)     For use as a general wash/rinse to clean cuts, scrapes, burns, wounds, or abrasions

6)     As an anti-itch/anti-inflammatory aid for hot spots

New Aloe Gel

Good morning and happy June to all of you.  We are a mere 10 days from the “official” start of summer and here in the Midwest it is definitely feeling like it’s already begun.  Is it too early to start dreaming of fall?

Here at CAW Industries, we’re hoping our Dr. Willard family can provide you and your loved ones a little relief from this summer heat in the form of our brand spanking new aloe gel product.  It took us nearly two years to develop a formula that combines the amazing absorption qualities of Willard Water® with an organic, paraben-free aloe gel so we’re extremely pleased to make this announcement.  We’re also happy to report that our new Dr. Willard’s Premium Paraben-Free Aloe Gel is so much better than we ever imagined it would be.

Unlike most other aloe gels this remarkable aloe gel goes on smooth and, thanks to the Willard Water® in the product, almost immediately absorbs into the skin.  Rather than the clammy, sticky feeling one typically experiences when using aloe gel, Dr. Willard’s Premium Paraben-Free Aloe Gel leaves your skin feeling soft and dry with no hint of that annoying clammy feeling.  You’ll also immediately notice the enhanced moisturizing qualities of the gel because the Willard Water® will help your skin retain the moisture in the gel and it will keep your skin soft for hours.  This is especially important when suffering the painful effects of overexposure to the wind and sun so if you’re taking your family to the beach, be sure to arm them with our Premium Aloe Gel.  You’ll be thankful you did!

In honor of this rather momentous occasion for our small family business, we’re going to offer a short term discount on the purchase of our Premium Aloe Gel.  If you place an order for Willard Water® on our Dr. Willard’s website (www.drwillard.com) we’ll let you add a bottle or our Premium Aloe gel for 40% off.  You’ll also get free shipping so this deal is a steal!   You’d better hurry, though, as this offer is only good until July 31st, 2013.

We do hope you’re all enjoying life and living it to the fullest this summer!

Willard Water BOGO Holiday Special

Happy Holidays from Dr. Willard’s!

Good morning friends-

As I sit here listening to holiday music and wondering if any town in America, outside of Alaska, is actually going to see a White Christmas, I can’t help but ponder the many blessings of good health and love my family and I have enjoyed this past year. And while the recession still looms very large in many American lives, I think it’s safe to say there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The world is once again marveling at the resiliency of the American spirit and I am more confident than ever that we will once again overcome these tough times to prevail. But we still have a long way to go, and far too many American families are still struggling, so we’re offering what we hope will be a small bit of relief for our loyal customers this holiday season.

Beginning today, and running for the month of December, we are offering a Buy-One-Get-One Free special. If you place an order through our website at drwillard.com or by calling us directly at 888-379-4552 we will give you a free bottle of whatever you’ve purchased. If you buy a gallon of CLEAR, we’ll give you a free gallon of CLEAR. If you buy an 8 oz bottle of Dark XXX, we’ll give you a free bottle of Dark XXX. It’s that easy. Simply enter the code BOGO2012 in the coupon code when you buy at drwillard.com or mention it when you call and we’ll take care of the rest. Only purchase one bottle and we’ll take care of the rest! Limit of one bottle per order. And remember that Willard Water makes a great holiday gift! You can either get the gift of health, or give the gift of health this holiday season.

From our family to yours, we sincerely wish you a wonderful holiday season. We look forward to hearing from you all soon!

Sincerely,

John Willard
