We all know that aging is a part of life, but why do some 60-year-olds look and act like 40-year olds, while some 40-year-olds look and act like 60-year-olds? While genes do have something to do with it, our diet and exercise patterns play a big role in our aging process. Individuals that eat a healthy diet and lead an active lifestyle can prevent aging. Today, we will help you look and feel younger with two simple products – green tea and Willard Water®.
We know that it is a type of tea, but what exactly is green tea, and what plant does it come from? An interesting fact is that green tea (which can also be yellow or light brown in color) comes from the exact same plant as black tea, a species called Camellia sinensis. Green and black tea is differentiated by two aspects: the variety of the plant, and the process of preparing the leaves. Camellia sinensis var. Sinensis, originated in China, has smaller leaves and is used to make green tea; while Camellia sinensis var. Assamica, has larger leaves, originated in India and is typically used to make black tea.
The preparation for green and black tea is also different. To make green tea, the leaves are steamed or pan fired, and then quickly dried, a process that helps to prevent the leaves from oxidizing and turning brown, which would change their taste. Green tea should be lightly colored and have a mildly astringent taste.
Black tea leaves, on the other hand, are allowed to oxidize prior to being heated and dried. The oxidation process makes black tea its signature dark color, varying from amber to dark brown, and tasting fruity or roasted, depending on how the leaves were processed.
Benefits of Green Tea
With so many products today promising you to look younger, how do you know green tea is the real deal? Mostly because it has been around for thousands of years. China’s The Kissa Yojoki (Book of Tea), written by Zen priest Eisai back 1191, described the health benefits of drinking green tea.
In addition to its long history, the health benefits of green tea have been supported in numerous medical studies around the world. In fact, Christopher Ochner, PhD, a research scientist in nutrition at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, states that “It’s the healthiest thing I can think of to drink,” in an article on WebMD. What are the benefits of drinking green tea in terms of keeping your body young?
A total of 14 random placebo-controlled medical research studies were analyzed to find the link between green tea and lower cholesterol levels. Green tea “was found to significantly and consistently reduce blood levels of total cholesterol (by an average of 7.2 mg/dL) and LDL-cholesterol (by an average of 2.2 mg/dL),” says Robert A. Washer, MD. At the same time, green tea consumption did not significantly affect blood levels of HDL-cholesterol (the “good cholesterol”).
How does lowering your bad cholesterol keep you young? It prevents buildup from clogging in arteries and preventing optimum blood flow, which may cause heart attacks, blood clots and strokes.
Lower Blood Pressure
High blood pressure can be a silent killer; although it may not present symptoms right away, if left untreated, it can lead to heart disease and strokes. Green tea can help to curb blood pressure levels. A 2014 article in the British Journal of Nutrition confirmed this fact after reviewing 25 randomized studies which involved over 1,400 people. Long-term green tea consumption reduced the systolic (the pressure your blood exerts on the artery walls when your heart is beating) as well as diastolic (the pressure your blood exerts on the artery walls when the heart is resting) blood pressure.
When trying to prevent aging, protecting the brain is just as important as protecting the rest of the body. In this regard, green tea has been proven to help improve working memory. In a study at the University of Basel in Switzerland, researchers found that when participants consumed a drink with 27.5 grams of green tea extract, they performed better on memory tests.
What is it in green tea that makes it so beneficial for our health? Tons and tons of antioxidants and nutrients! The tea leaves contain antioxidants called polyphenols, such as catechins and flavonoids. Antioxidants are one of the most important nutrients that can keep us young as they attack free radicals in our bodies whose mission it is to destroy healthy cells which we need to fight diseases and improve our immune system.
Although green tea contains antioxidants, in order for them to benefit us, our bodies need to be able to digest them and make them bioavailable, be able to be broken down, enter the bloodstream and target the required areas to improve bodily functions. Not everything we consume becomes 100 percent bioavailable, but with the help of Willard Water®, we can significantly increase our body’s ability to absorb antioxidants and nutrients.
A recent study conducted by NIS Laboratories proved that Willard Water® significantly increased the absorption of antioxidants, specifically those in green tea. The researchers found that the patented micelle catalyst in the formula was able to break down particles which helped green tea antioxidants fight the effect of stress on cells.
In addition to enhancing bioavailability of antioxidants, Willard Water® also helps the body remove harmful toxins and other waste left after the digestive process. The best part is that this product is made with all natural ingredients, and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Choose between three different products, depending on your health needs:
- Dr. Willard’s Water® CLEAR™ Concentrate – A formula with double the dose of the micelle catalyst (as compared to the DARK Concentrate), which promotes detoxification and nutrient absorption. Nineteen trace minerals (iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, calcium, potassium, selenium, etc) are present, which help to develop strong bones and teeth, increase energy and serve as an antioxidant.
- Dr. Willard’s Water® DARK Concentrate – A formula with a high concentration of fossilized organics, which contain trace minerals, amino acids, activated carbon, etc., but half the patented catalyst, as compared to the CLEAR™ Concentrate.
- Dr. Willard’s Water® ULTIMATE Concentrate – A formula most recommended to improve the absorbability and assimilation of nutrients and detoxification, which has high amounts of the catalyst as well as the trace minerals.
Stop the aging process today and improve your health by purchasing good-quality green tea and adding a small amount of Willard Water®. Cheers!
