Tips to Improve Your Summer Gardening

Every gardening season has its challenges and rewards. Any experienced gardener will tell you that each time of the year requires certain tricks of the trade to keep the soil fertile and the plants flourishing. As PlantCatalyst® works with many professional growing houses around the country, we share with you proven tips to follow to improve your summer gardening experience!

Pick the Right Variety

There’s nothing better than growing and later eating the fruits and vegetables from your very own garden. However, it is extremely disheartening when your efforts go to waste if your crops don’t make it through the season. The summer’s hot temperatures are not idea for all plants, which makes it imperative that you choose warm season fruits and vegetables when planting in the summer.

The perfect warm season fruits and vegetables include:

  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Peppers
  • Eggplant
  • Squash
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Watermelons

Choose the Right Location

Remember that these varieties also require at least eight hours of direct sunlight, or they won’t produce the right amount or flavor of fruit. This means that you need to consider the space you have available for gardening, and observe how much direct sunlight is available. If there is a lot of shade, it may not be the optimal spice.

The soil needs to be at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and preferably not over 85 degrees; in fact most warm season plants prefer a soil temperature of 70 degrees and higher.

Manage Water Use

Summer droughts and hot temperatures make it vital that plants get the right amount of water. It’s important to manage water use and prevent runoff, which simply wastes water.

There are many affordable ways to stop runoff, which also erodes soil, such as adding plants to bald spots in your yard which promote runoff. When watering your plants, choose a slow dripping system instead of your garden hose, as the hose lets out too much water at once, causing it to run off in different directions. A slow and controlled watering solution allows the water to permeate the soil, reaching the roots.

Add PlantCatalyst® to Your Gardening Routine

Many gardeners tend to believe that fertilizer is the solution to all of their gardening problems. However, this product is typically made with dangerous chemicals and toxins that deplete the natural vitamins in our soil, deteriorate the health benefits of fruits and vegetables, harm our health and our planet.

PlantCatalyst®, is a solution to this important issue. A small amount of this formula reduces the use of fertilizer by up to 50 percent! This doesn’t only mean that you improve your own health, but end up putting money right back in your pocket.

This agricultural product is made with all natural ingredients that offer a host of benefits to your plants, which include:

  • Larger and/or greener plants
  • More blooms and/or plants blooming earlier
  • Sturdier stocks and/or more extensive root systems
  • Greater resilience in stressful growing environments
  • More yield per plant, larger fruit/flowers and enhanced flavor and aroma

Don’t just take our word for it – the benefits of PlantCatalyst® have been tried on over 100,000 plants in commercial greenhouses in Florida, Ontario and British Columbia, and studies at institutions such as the University of Wisconsin and South Dakota State University, among others.
